CELEBRATING FREEDOM BY THE SHORE, CT MARKS THE FOURTH AT ROCKY NECK

East Lyme, CT.- 249 years of independence, and today, Americans mark the moment in all kinds of ways. At Rocky Neck Beach, the celebration came with sunshine, salty air, and plenty of pride.

“It's a privilege, a lot of people want to come here to pursue the American dream,”said Chez Rivera, a Broad Brook resident who attended with his girlfriend. “Every place has its faults, but, you know, I'm proud to be where I'm from. Simple as that.”

In the sun and in the surf patriotism is everywhere. Families arrive early, reading, swimming, and honoring the red, white, and blue.

Fatima C. Vargas from New Britain celebrated the 4th of July with her family, “So plans for today is just to relax. You know, it's the day off. It's the time to celebrate, you know, Independence Day here in the United States. I'm American, but I'm also Peruvian, so I feel like, I feel happy, I feel proud. Yeah!”



There are no fireworks here, just quiet moments that remind people why this day matters.

At Rocky Neck Beach, a picture of unity and a reminder that freedom lives in moments, just like this are proud 4 of July, on the shoreline of Connecticut.
