CONNECTICUT LATINO LEADERS HONOR 25 YEARS OF IDENTIDAD LATINA’S IMPACT

Hartford, CT – Identidad Latina Multimedia celebrated its 25th anniversary with an event at Lo Sano Restaurant in Hartford, bringing together journalists, community leaders, and consular representatives for a night of recognition and culture.

Since its founding in 1999, the publication has been part of Connecticut’s Spanish-language media ecosystem, serving the Latino community with informative and cultural content. Today, it combines print editions with radio programming and a strong digital presence.

"Once the internet began gaining strength, we had to evolve," said Jorge Alatrista, founder and editor-in-chief. "The newspaper gave way to a magazine we now publish every two months, and social media has taken off in recent years."

Adelia Santa Cruz, the outlet’s marketing director, emphasized the importance of connecting with new generations.
"We’ve gone through a lot of changes, moving from print to digital. But I keep pushing and reminding others, if we have the will, we can do it. It’s not easy, but it’s possible."

Guests at the celebration expressed appreciation for the outlet’s role in covering issues important to the immigrant community and in strengthening cultural identity.

The evening featured live music, traditional Peruvian food, and shared memories. The event served as a testament to the continued importance of local media in the lives of Latinos in Connecticut.

Identidad Latina Multimedia is recognized as one of the first outlets to pave the way for Spanish-language media coverage in the region, inspiring Hispanic media outlets, like Boceto Media, to continue uplifting Latino voices in Connecticut.
